Your watch is guaranteed against any manufacturing defect for 2 years from the time of purchase, provided you purchased the watch from an authorized Luminox retailer. Damage caused by normal or extreme use of the watch is not covered by the manufacturer's warranty. Items excluded from the warranty include the battery, crystal, bracelet, winding stem and crown, as well as damage from normal, extreme or improper use. Please refer to the warranty card and booklet provided by the retailer. When sending the watch to an official service center, please enclose the guarantee card, which is only valid if the shop, date of purchase and a retailer's stamp are legible. If the watch was not purchased from an authorized Luminox retailer, it will be void the repair in the "grey market" category. This means the warranty is void and you will be billed for repairs even if they are actually covered by the warranty.
Like any precision device, a watch needs regular maintenance to keep it working properly. How often it has to be serviced depends on the model, the climate and how carefully the owner treats his watch. As a rule of thumb, we recommend a full service every three to four years, depending on how the watch is used.
A battery can last anywhere from two to ten years, depending on the type of watch, the capacity of the battery, the size and weight of the hands, and the energy required for the various functions of the movement. For example, a chronograph uses more energy than a watch that only displays hours and minutes. Some Luminox watches give a signal when the battery is almost empty: as soon as the second hand jumps every 4 seconds, it is time to have the battery replaced by a Luminox-certified watchmaker. Even once this stage is reached, the clock will continue to function for one to three weeks before stopping completely. Please note that the battery is not covered by the manufacturer's warranty.
Luminox watches have a water resistance rating of 100-500 meters as indicated on the case back.
However, this indication does not give any indication of the possible loss of water resistance over time. Please note that temperature differences and external influences such as solvents, cosmetics, dust and shocks such as impacts or sudden movements can significantly affect the water resistance. It is possible for the crown or crystal to be jarred without leaving a visible mark, but this can damage the movement and reduce water resistance.
It is also important to note that seals and sealing systems are affected by wear and tear and aging. This applies, for example, to the sealing rings around the glass, around the crown and the case back. Also, not all types of wristbands are suitable for underwater use. With the exception of a rotating bezel, the moving parts of the watch (crown, pushers, etc.) should not be operated under water. Before wearing the watch underwater, make sure all moving parts are fully engaged. A crown with a thread, in particular, must be screwed in tightly. After wearing in water, the watch must be rinsed with clear, fresh water, cleaned and dried.
Never open the watch case yourself. The water resistance should be tested regularly, at least once a year, by an official Luminox partner.
Most waterproof watches are tested according to the international ISO 2281 standards. Only dedicated dive watches (like the Luminox 1500 Series) are tested to the much more rigorous ISO 6425 standards. We recommend the following waterproof ratings for specific activities in or near water:
Splash water: 3 atm (30 meters)
Surface water activities: 5 atm (50 meters)
Swimming/Snorkeling: 10 atm (100 meters)
Diving: 20 atm (200 meters), we recommend a screw-threaded crown. Deep sea diving: specific ISO 6425 tests required.
Quartz movement:
The typical rate deviation of a quartz movement is between -0.5 and +0.7 seconds per day. External influences such as shocks or sudden changes in temperature can affect the accuracy of a quartz movement.
Mechanical movement:
The accuracy of the watch depends on the movement and the habits of the wearer and can therefore vary greatly. The average rate deviation is between -10 and +40 seconds per day.
The materials we use at Luminox are carefully tested to avoid allergic reactions. For customers who are sensitive to stainless steel, we recommend titanium or plastic watches.
Depending on use and wear and tear, leather straps usually last between 6 and 18 months. The hygiene aspect must also be considered, because the leather strap is exposed to your sweat, bacteria and dirt every day. We therefore recommend replacing the leather strap at least every 18 months.
Luminox light tubes, which we refer to as LLT (Luminox Light Technology), are engineered to glow for up to 25 years - with a 10-year glow guarantee from date of purchase provided the watch is not subjected to severe shock. Luminox - Always Visible.
Luminox watches shine continuously for up to 25 years, even in complete darkness. Each Luminox watch is fitted with small micro gas fluorescent tubes that do not require an external power source. These micro gas lights (in borosilicate glass capsules) are attached to the hands, hour numerals or dial and in some cases the bezel of our watches. These fluorescent tubes are harmless to people and the environment.
Luminox watches do not need an external light source to "charge" the color in the dial or hands, as is the case with many conventional luminescent watches. Unlike watches with electronic lighting, there is no need to press a button to illuminate the dial. The lighting therefore does not consume any additional energy.
Luminox watches are produced in a clean room under controlled relative humidity of 45% to prevent fogging. However, under certain circumstances, water may condense due to the natural humidity inside the watch.
This can happen when the watch is exposed to extreme heat or cold in a short period of time, such as when the watch is first exposed to sunlight and then worn while swimming or in a cold shower, or when you fall while skiing and the watch glass is damaged come into contact with cold snow.
Unless the condensation is caused by a weak spot due to shock or damage to the watch, it will disappear once the climate returns to normal. If the crystal is still fogged up after 2-3 minutes at normal temperature, you should send the watch to an authorized service center to repair any jarring or seal damage that may affect water resistance.
Important note for mechanical watches with automatic winding
A Luminox watch that runs and is worn around 12 hours a day takes
not to be raised by hand. Instead, the rotor spins
the movements of the arm and provides the watch with sufficient power reserve.
Even if you put the watch down at night, it keeps running. The watch only stops if it has not been worn for around 38 hours.
Please note: if a self-winding watch has stopped, it must be restarted by turning the crown (B) to position (0) approximately 10 times. Then set the time and wear the watch on your arm. So it pulls itself back up completely on its own. The full power reserve is reached after 4 to 6 hours, depending on the activity of the wearer.
Use this table to find out which watch size suits you best.
Watches can be adversely affected by magnetism and may gain or lose time. It is important not to leave a watch close to magnetic objects for a long periods. In particular, cell phones, television and PC speakers, magnetic necklaces, handbag clasps, hair-driers, electric razors, magnetic parts of refrigerators are all magnetic. When your watch is influenced by magnetism, contact the nearest Authorized Service Center to have the watch demagnetized.
Analog Quartz Watches:
Mechanical/Automatic Watches:
A device that measures the approximate speed of an object/element/person in movement over a defined distance.
How to use a tachymeter:
Your watch has been carefully checked during the manufacturing in our state-of the-art cleanroom (a humidity, temperature, and dust-controlled assembly facility) and it is in excellent working condition when it leaves our Swiss factory. To keep it in its best condition, we recommend the following care and maintenance guidelines, and periodic maintenance or servicing by one of our authorized Luminox International Service Organization (MISO) service centers.
Cleaning
Please regularly rinse your watch in clean, fresh water to remove any sediment or other material that may accumulate on the watch during use. This is especially important after each immersion in salt water.
Crystals
Luminox watches are made with specially tempered mineral glass crystals, or sapphire glass crystals, depending on the specific model. Sapphire glass crystals are highly scratch resistant; while mineral glass crystals, though scratch resistant, are softer in composition and may exhibit surface marring over time. A cracked, chipped, or loose crystal should be replaced immediately as it may lead to water resistance or fogging issues.
Many elite troops around the world rely on Luminox, which is why the brand has earned a reputation for robustness, durability and readability in all lighting conditions, making the watch the perfect timepiece. Durable, reliable adventure gear. Our watches are never pure accessories, but always high-quality, robust and precise pieces of equipment that give the wearer confidence, panache and a daily dose of heroism.
